QR codes give you the ability to redirect scanning devices to any URL you chose

Not everyone can afford to pay for hosted websites. With the QR system, you can send visitors to any blog page, and say goodbye to shortening ugly affiliated links

The beauty of using business cards for advertising is they are small enough to place in a jacket pocket even within a business card holder

They can be left in shops – telephone boxes (if in working order) or buses and my personal favorite ATM machines on the ledge just under where the money comes out

Sometime ago digital business card app was created and widely advertised

Based on close proximity signals, once the app was loaded onto a smartphone, the owner loaded their advert and then walked around admitting the signal to any other smartphone within range

This system was short-lived as these messages could have been spamming

Whereas my printed business offered Free information through a QR code, which gave anyone finding the card a choice to scan or not

The Upcycle vs Recycle

When I first started my Blogger blog about recycling, I thought recycling included making anything discarded and turning it into a new item

Well, it seems I was wrong and I admit it! 

Upcycling is transforming an old disused item into a new and usable and even transforming it into a saleable item

While there may be those who upcycle just for the pleasure of knowing they are doing their bit to help save the environment, there will be others who sell the finished item as well as gain the same pleasure

Only recently I saw a photograph of an upcycled item made from disused wooden pallets, which had been turned into a plant holding troughs that could be fattened to a garden fence

Someone else displayed a garden chair made from wooden pallets, with instructions on how to make your own

Although I don’t know whether either item was on sale if the instructions were to be free, or whether there was a fee to pay

One novel idea I came across, made full use of upcycling, by using empty drinks cans and drilling and placing them together to make solar panels, the finished items became a green product for sale

Because of the amount of time involved in refining and producing finished ready-to-use solar panels

Someone I met through eBay produced mood drums from empty calor gas drums but decided to produce further drums without the use of those drums which were inclined too heavy as a practical musical instrument

Sometime later while visiting Moseley village they had a farmer’s market and arts and crafts stalls too

With one where they had somehow flattened glass bottles, still with the label on and some had been converted into clocks

It sounds really appealing especially if you already watch videos on YouTube

Sadly, the videos you watch to earn money are nothing like the entertaining videos on YouTube!

In fact, the “Get Paid to Watch Videos” are geared to sell something and vary in length, without stating how long they are

With preconceived ideas to gain payment, you are forced to watch each video from beginning to end

The other downside is the low payment threshold as opposed to the length; of time you spend watching them

You may end up also buying something due to the sales pitch contents of the videos

Phone Scammers

Recently I had been online and had chosen to purchase something that sounded interesting.

But for some reason, the payment failed to go through, which left me expecting a phone call from my bank to question if I had intended to buy or if I had been scammed

Just at that moment, the phone rang and a recorded message said my card had been used to make two payments of a large amount

Then instructed me to “Press One to speak to an advisor” Fortunately I was not asked for the full card details and at some point in the conversation I was told they would close my account and set up a new one.

But when I was told that I needed to go to my bank and make a withdrawal I realised this was a scam and ended the call

As if my bank account had just been closed there would be no way to withdraw money

Feeling a little foolish for even falling for the “Speak to one of our advisors” ploy

I felt it my duty to warn my readers to beware of this scam and provide details

I found the phone number on my phone display and used “who called me” with these results

 020 3996 4044 is a landline number that has been identified as a credit card scam, located in London (UK)

 The summary of detected keywords found in the reports is as follows: scam (4 times), credit card (2 times),

 credit (2 times), bank (1 time), recorded message (1 time)
