A slightly dated saying, which refers to the old pre-decimal coins.
Admittedly a lot heavier but even when buying sweets, you could get far more for your pocket money
Since those long-gone days and the devaluation of the value of the new coins, and more recently rising prices
It now seems to say is more relevant than ever
With this in mind, I have created some money saying ideas
1: When shopping in supermarkets, look around the shelves for the shop’s own brand of well-known products
In most cases, the quality is good and they are cheaper!
2: Take advantage of any apps or bonus cards to increase savings
3: When buying fruit such as clementines look for loser outer skins, as they will be easier to peel and mostly riper
Other fruit also benefits from choosing a darker coloured outer skin as they also are riper Such as Honey Dew Melon
4: Bananas are at their best with skins that are spotted
5: Shopping online can save travelling expenses, but there are normally delivery charges
But some places offer free delivery if you spend a quoted amount
6: Add foil wrapping to opened lids of Horlicks to stop dampness rendering the drink solid
This also applies to sugar stored in jars
